Drifter Information: Drifters, drogued at 25 or 40 meters, are released during research cruises. The drifter transmitters send position information via Argos-instrument-equipped satellite to ground-based transmitters that send the stream to processing centers. We pull these sets daily from the web. Data are further processed at PMEL and transformed into drifter plots and animations. Drifter data are available from 1986 to present.
