I am focused on the early life history stages of fishes from the Northeast Pacific Ocean, Bering Sea, and the Arctic. I am particularly interested in pursuing applied taxonomic and ecological research to address important data gaps related to basic life history information that can be applied by fisheries scientists in ecosystem approaches to management. My current research examines the development of structures in larval fishes that influence foraging success and predator avoidance, which, in conjunction with time-series analysis, improves our understanding of survival and recruitment processes in the early stages.
