Research Interests: Conservation and management of the marine environment utilizing ecosystem based management practices through coordinated research efforts, liaising with government, and public outreach. 
 
Heather Tabisola received her B.S. from University of New Hampshire in Marine and Freshwater Biology where her senior thesis work included the design, construction, and testing of a scaled model of a North Atlantic right whale to simulate and study fishing gear entanglements. Heather has a diverse marine mammal focused career and has most recently worked as a Marine Mammal and Passive Acoustic Monitor in the US and offshore Uruguay, Greenland, and Africa and spent several years conducting research on right whales in the North Atlantic. Since joining the University of Washington Joint Institute for the Study of Atmosphere and Ocean/Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean, and Ecosystem Studies (CICOES) at NOAA in 2015, Heather has supported many facets of the EcoFOCI group. Currently her work is focused on budgets, reporting, outreach, and communication of EcoFOCI research projects.
